There is a connection between character development, hope and receiving God’s love in our hearts through troubles.

Rom5:3 says we rejoice in tribulations knowing it woks out patience in us. That sounds strange because most of us don’t want troubles. We want victory without a fight, crown without a cross!

According to Rm5:3-5 the purpose of troubles or challenge is to make us patient. Challenges will make us depend on God who doesn’t work by our time. We just have to learn to trust him. As we wait for God to manifest (now developing your patience) , we will form a new character which gives us hope that cannot fail. This hope will make us experience God’s love through the Holy Spirit.

For example, I have learnt that when people hurts us, the first thing on God’s mind is not to judge them. He gives people plenty of opportunities to repent. I think that is fair because we are not perfect too! I find it difficult to accept this revelation about God not acting quickly initially but I am now fully persuaded by it becuase God is full of mercy and he will give people second and third chance to repent. This understanding should help us learn to accommodate people and help us grow our character through the grace of God. We will receive God’s love through this process. The Holy Spirit will minister to us and show us God cannot mismanaged our lives.

In end, our focus will be shifted from the person that hurts us me (or the challenge) and we will now look up to God who make things right in our lives. I’ve witnessed God covered gap created by challenges many times in my life and he will do the same for you.Through this process, we will developed hope that cannot be disappointed through faith in God’s word because we know God cannot fail. There will be a sense of God’s love in our heart and we will get a witness that things will work out well.

Romans 5:3-5 ERV/TPT – Even in times of trouble we have a joyful confidence, knowing that our pressures will develop in us patient endurance.And patient endurance will refine our character, and proven character leads us back to hope.
And this hope will never disappoint us.We know this because God has poured out his love to fill our hearts through the Holy Spirit he gave us.
