A lot of Christian focus on obeying God whereas God seeks for a willing heart first.
I’ve observed that people find it easier to do things and sometimes they go the extra mile when there is a willingness.
May the Lord give you a willing heart and send people who are willing your way.
2 Corinthians 8:12 helps us to understand this topic more “if there be first a willing mind, it is accepted according to that a man has, and not according to that he has not “
We can always tell whether someone is willing going by the way they do things. Having great skills is not enough to get you another project or keep you in work – you need a willing heart. They call it a “Can do attitude“
I was a part of a church that was doing a building project many years ago. We were asked to contribute N5,000 (<£10) and I didn’t have it. Because I was willing to be part of the project , I took annual leave to do labour work on the site. So I told God while I was working on site, if you bless me , I will do the ceiling of the whole building and 4 years later, I did it by the grace of God without being prompted to do it.
We must never look down on people’s gift. We should accept what they have to offer based on their willingness.
God said in Isa1:19 “If ye be willing and obedient, You shall eat the best of the land” Two people (Abel and Cain) gave to God in Gen4 . One was accepted and the other was rejected -why? Some people said “God rejected Cain’s offering because it has no blood in it”. That explanation is not consistent with 2Cor8:12. I believe God rejected it because he gave reluctantly ! Check the quality of his offering. I like what David said when he told Solomon to build God’s temple. He said “
I believe God didnt want Abraham to killed Isaac, that wont be necessary since there was a Lamb (Jesus) that was slain from the foundation of the world. God wanted to see if Abraham was willing to do what he asked him to do.
When someone is willing their goal will be to satisfy the beneficiary. When we are willing , it makes doing Gods will easier!
A willing heart seeks to understand how things must be done with an understanding that there may be a need for sacrifice.
Willingness comes when one delights himself in the Lord. Psalm 37:4 says Delight thyself also in the Lord: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. When you delight yourself in the law of the Lord and meditate on it day and night as written in Ps1:2 , you will become more willing to obey the Lord.
Then you will say according to Psalm 40:6-8 Lord, I come: in the volume of the book it is written of me, I delight to do thy will, O my God: your law is within my heart.
God bless you for reading to the end.
