There are 3 ways we can view the worship of the Lord today. He is the Lord, our Lord or my Lord.
He is the Lord – over the universe. This is when people worship him the way they like and at their own convenience. Some even worship him like the people of the world would worship the devil. Some don’t even believe he is there until they are faced with end of life situation and there is no hope. They then turn to him. God will still accept people in his mercy but the truth is they have lived on earth with nothing recorded to their name.
He is our Lord : This is when the worship of Jesus becomes a collective responsibility. We rely on others to do it on behalf of us because we are too busy with other things that are more important. God will understand! We always have good excuses for not supporting his church, his vision for reconciling men to God. We need Pastors to encourage us and then recognise us for doing the work of the kingdom and we get upset if we are not. There are many in the body of Christ today with the spirit of Martha-they want Pastor’s attention as if the pastor is the head of the church. However, Jesus is looking for people who will sit at his feet to learn from him. When we hear him , we will do what he likes that may not make sense to people who are spiritually dull. We will give up what cost us a lot to serve and minister to Jesus!
He is my Lord: This is when Jesus and his vision becomes a personal thing to you. You are willing to take risk like Mary Magdalene did (going alone to the grave in the dark and even staying there alone when others have left). She eventually becomes the first to see Jesus. This is when the house of the Lord becomes your house, the people of the Lord becomes your people. The kingdom of God becomes number one on your agenda! We don’t need to ask you to come to church and serve your brethren, we don’t argue with you about tithing , prayer , reading the bible submitting to Church Leadership , Government authorities, parents and your husband. Your passion is to know HIM and press towards the mark of the higher calling. You bear the mark of Christ in your body and are willing to follow Jesus anywhere.
Jesus is Lord but is he your Lord? Where do you fit in these three categories? I pray that this word will find a space in your heart and produce a corresponding action. The Lord will give you the grace to follow him.
John 20:11-18 (ERV) But Mary stood outside the tomb, crying. While she was crying, she bent down and looked inside the tomb. She saw two angels dressed in white sitting where Jesus’ body had been. One was sitting where the head had been; the other was sitting where the feet had been. The angels asked Mary, “Woman, why are you crying?” Mary answered, “They took away the body of my Lord, and I don’t know where they put him.” 14 When Mary said this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing there. But she did not know that it was Jesus. He asked her, “Woman, why are you crying? Who are you looking for?” She thought he was the man in charge of the garden. So she said to him, “Did you take him away, sir? Tell me where you put him. I will go and get him.” Jesus said to her, “Mary.”She turned toward him and said in Aramaic, “Rabboni,” which means “Teacher.” Jesus said to her, “You don’t need to hold on to me! I have not yet gone back up to the Father. But go to my followers[a] and tell them this: ‘I am going back to my Father and your Father. I am going back to my God and your God.’” Mary Magdalene went to the followers and told them, “I saw the Lord!” And she told them what he had said to her.
