We are in a season for a new name from the Lord! You will get a new name that the Lord himself will give you.

A new name signifies a new nature, a new character, and a new authority.

There used to be a practice in my culture – when a child is born, the parents will visit a traditional priest to ask for the name the gods have given the child and usually the life of that child reflects the name given by the gods. Therefore, people change to a Christian name when they become born again. There is more to a name than we understand. Have you ever thought about the meaning of your name and why your parent gave you that name? Your life will eventually answer to the name you are called.

Abram (exalted father) lived for 99 years before his name was changed to Abraham (father of many nations). What he couldn’t achieved in 99 years, he got it in one year after his name was changed. There is no need to change the name of Isaac because the name came from God.

You know the story of Jacob before his name was changed to “Israel”. He asked the Angel of God to bless him, but he was given a new name and his story changed. There is a difference between Jacob and Israel (Read Genesis 49:2). He was blessed his children as Israel and not as Jacob. In Gen 48:1, Jacob was very sick but when it was time to talk about the wonders of God and pronounce the blessing, the Israel in him rose up. Your new name will empower you to see what you cannot see with your natural eyes.

In order to understand meaning of a new name let’s read what God said about the name of Jesus in Phil2:10 “God gave Jesus the name that is greater than any other name. God did this so that every person will bow down to honour the name of Jesus”.

Demons will not answer to a name given by your parents! They recognise the name from the Lord. When a person gets a title (CEO, Minister, President, Chief, King, Queen…), he gets respect because of the new position and not because of the name he got from his parent.  The current Vice President of Nigeria is now the boss of his former boss because of a new name.

God gave us a prophetic word for 2020. He said “I shall be called a new name that the Lord himself will give me -Isa62:2. My new name with my new identity shall be unveiled this year and all shall know it. My family will be united around this new name. It’s time to get a new name from the Lord” I pray that this word will come to pass in your life this season.

Jesus said in Rev2:17 ; “I will give the hidden manna to everyone who wins the victory. I will also give each one a white stone that has a new name written on it. And no one will know this name except the one who gets the stone“. Friends there are personal mysteries imparted to God’s people; that is, secrets that are between the believer and Jesus. Only someone devoted to God is to know the meaning of the shining white stone and the name written upon it.

Please ask God to reveal your new name and new identity to you. God said and I quote “You will be called by a brand-new name, given to you from the mouth of Yahweh himself. You will be a beautiful crown held high in the hand of God; a royal crown of splendour held in the open palm of your God! You will never again be called the Abandoned One, nor will your land be called Deserted. But you will be called My Delight Is in You (Hephzibah) -Isa62:1-3
